Tonight when I tried to make a new blog entry, the whole format for doing so had changed. I was almost in tears while I tried to get any typing to show up in the box.

On a hunch, I went to my laptop, and here I am. I can only guess that the format NOW does not work with the Mac computer. I’ll have to write to the “support” department. This is highly inconvenient. I just finished loading a couple of pictures onto the Mac, and that is where I download most pictures from the digital camera.

The days have been busy, of course, but lately not SO hectic. The “holiday” business of boarding has slowed considerably. This Friday is the last of the McBride Farmer’s Markets, although there are still two Saturday Markets left in nearby Dunster. Meanwhile, it’s a race against cold and frost and dampness, to get the vegetables, apples and  berries out of the garden.

Late this afternoon, I got a call from a friend who manages the Whistle Stop Gallery in our town, and is involved with our “Info Centre” as well. Some tourists had come in to see her about 5 o’clock, saying that there were some kittens abandoned up a logging road near town. Since the location was only a few miles from my house, I volunteered to go see what I could do.

Upon arriving at the Forestry operated picnic ground, I saw one cat vanish into the bush, one streak over to the edge of the grounds, and there were two which stayed at a picnic bench as I approached. I put a bowl of dry cat food in front of the two thin kittens, and they started devouring it so fast they choked a bit. It was not an ordeal to pick them up and put them into kennels in my truck. However, over the next half hour, I couldn’t get any closer to the other two.

I do not usually take in strays. I’m not subsidized, and so I almost never offer to take in an abandoned pet unless someone is paying for its board. Just the same, I could NOT ignore the situation with these cats.

I got the two kitties settled in to a large kennel on our porch. When a customer came to drop off his dog, I asked if he might like a kitten or two, and to my surprise, he consented to take a look.
I’m waiting to hear from his wife as to whether they will take one or both, after they get back from their short trip.

Well, I’m tired and going to turn in early. Thanks for reading my blog. HUGS  ~ Ann
