Miko & Aurora

I apologize to my human clients: I promised to put these pictures on the web sooner!

On the left is “Miko”, who is a lovely pet and a great stud dog too. He has fathered quite a few puppies (PLANNED litters) and his daughters and sons who show up here for grooming and boarding have all been very nice.

The golden retriever/lab on the right is a returning customer of ours. She and her owner are so well bonded that Aurora goes to the school where her mistress is a teacher, and just naps or plays with the students as needed. Even though her owner suffers some angst over any separation, Aurora adapts very well to our care. While staying with us, in the house, she seems to patiently wait for her humans to return without any agitation. Even if I am away for a few minutes, she greets ME with great enthusiasm also! Apparently I’m suitable as Aurora’s “Nanny”.

I didn’t write, on February 27th, that it was the occasion of my mother’s birthday. She has been gone for almost 38 years, and it seems like yesterday that she was still in our lives. She would have been 83 this week, but died at 46 from Lupus. I feel that she is with me every day. I am soon to turn 52; even though I have no sign of illness, every year that I live beyond HER lifespan, I think, “This one’s for YOU, Mom!”.

I got a beautiful birthday present this week from my sister: she chose just as I would have! It’s a lovely pendant and chain with peridot, amethyst, citrine and pink CZ, in sterling silver. It is modern in style and I LOVE IT.

Yesterday afternoon I decided to try working out my Income Tax online. I used “U-file”, and since I am a year behind in my taxes, started with 2005. I worked through every page, going back to change errors and omissions, and the got to the final page where I was told that I could not file that year’s taxes “online”. So, I thought, “No big deal, I’ll just pay for this, print all the information (with calculations) out and MAIL the damn thing!”, but when I went back to pay for the process, my filled out pages had disappeared! Solution is to unearth the actual Tax Forms and get to work. I’m not scamming anyone, shortchanging the government (all I’ll owe is my own CPP), or otherwise being deceitful. *SIGH* I’m just a bad bookkeeper and disorganized.

I’ll probably be back later or tomorrow to post pictures of the two boarders. Someone accused me, in my beloved chat room, of “bragging about” my “HUGE boarding facilty”: of course that NEVER happened! I often have to answer the phone or the door while chatting in the evening, but I have NEVER boasted about having a big operation here. It’s one case where small and homey is more wonderful than bigger, for all concerned. We are fortunate that the “kennels & grooming” are enough to support us, along with Gary’s work and the gardening business too.

Thank you for reading my blog. ~Ann
