Gilbert

This is the little cat that was brought to me last year. She needed a home, and I “fell for her” right away. The next day she gave birth to 4 kittens, and we found good homes for them. I was calling her “Jill” after the friend who gave the cat to me, but I discovered that Jill’s little girls had named the kitty “Gilbert”, and that name stuck!
Gilbert is now a spayed cat, and though we leave cat kibbles out for her at all times, she stays busy patrolling the acreage, hunting mice or sometimes simply basking in the sun. I’ve seen her from a distance, sitting atop a fencepost at the farthest edge of our property, and I hope that even with so much freedom she can stay around for a long time.
We leave a ladder parked against the roof on the north side of our house. Gary climbs it in order to clean the chimney or eavestroughs, and it is most convenient to leave it in place.
As you can see, Gilbert enjoys watching us from the ladder, and though she is “allowed” indoors, seems to prefer this kind of visit.
She is such a cutie, looks like she’s well at home around your place.
